Overview
River Region Hospice
Providing care to patients and families facing serious illness in South Louisiana in your home or ours.
It is the mission of River Region Hospice to provide an individualized program of physical,
social, emotional, spiritual, and practical care for people facing the final phases of a life-limiting illness with an emphasis on controlling pain and other symptoms either in the home, at the hospice house, or another facility.
The program is reflective of an ideal of caring that emphasizes comfort and dignity, allowing hospice beneficiaries the ability to maintain independence as long as possible while remaining in familiar surroundings. Hospice care is centered on the patient, family, and caregiver. Personnel respect and respond to the differences in family lifestyles, values, and wishes.
What distinguishes River Region Hospice from other area hospices?
It’s simple. River Region Hospice grants beneficiaries the power of choice. At River Region Hospice, care is delivered in the least restrictive manner possible servicing either in the home, in the hospice house, or at an extended care facility. Care, as it should be, is provided in the most appropriate setting and with a consistent staff that follows the patient wherever the optimal treatment is available. This allows families to enjoy quality time together, rather than having to waste valuable time coordinating different facilities, each with new faces to learn and trust. Quality time, coupled with the compassionate and skillful River Region Hospice staff, create a peaceful and rewarding hospice journey.
River Region Hospice is unparalleled in that we operate the only free-standing, home-like Hospice House in the Greater Metro Area. Having an inpatient unit allows for flexibility when assessing and implementing a patient’s treatment plan. Knowing that the Hospice House is there, even if the patient never plans to use it, provides peace-of-mind and discretion during this tumultuous time. Our patients are free to continue receiving services with River Region Hospice regardless of the level-of-care deemed necessary granting us the ability to cater to the patient’s changing needs.
The hospice nurse and social worker assigned to the case work with our guests to create a personalized plan for the delivery of services. The hospice staff will assist with determining the most appropriate level of care for the patient at any any stage of illness.
