In the Community
Community involvement is essential to spread the message of hospice as well as keep in touch with the community we serve. Activities include:
- Hosting community gatherings such as our annual memorial service. The 2011 Interfaith Memorial Service was held in September. For more information, click here. 2011’s Memorial Service offered a time of reflection and remembrance. Families and friends were given an opportunity to remember their loved one through a visual presentation, a candle-lightning ceremony, and a balloon release.
- Providing continuing education to social workers and nurses to inform and inspire other professionals in related fields
- Maintaining our Website to provide information and education to those considering hospice and those that already receive it
- Having a foundation to receive donations from the community so that River Region Hospice has the ability to provide care for those less fortunate
- Sponsoring events and activities that have already been organized such as the prison hospice ministry and community health fairs
- Broadcasting public service announcements regarding hospice issues
- Being available to receive suggestions for community involvement
